The series 'Music Planet' featuring music journalism by Andy Kershaw and Lucy Duran, is now to be aired in early 2011. The BBC have released the following clips:

What do you think?

I am impressed so far, Martin Reynolds, at least from the website.

On BBC One (television) tonight (20:00), 'Human Planet' begins its look at extreme environments: the arctic, mountains, oceans, jungles, grasslands, deserts, rivers and even the urban jungle.

As John W pointed out last summer, the music has also been spun off into its own radio series (from 21:00 tonight on BBC Radio 3).   Meet the makers!

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/9f4eef54-19e1-11e0-b921-00144feab49a.html#axzz1AuhIL5mM

According to 'Music Planet', " ... music is perhaps the most profound expression of the human spirit, and it can take us to the emotional heart of a culture."

So what appeals more: human or music planet?

Last night, we watched the television before tuning into 'Music Planet', Andy D.  Both were superb, although some of the scenes on television, for example, hunting a sperm whale, were quite upsetting.

Andy Kershaw made a substantial entry into the Radio 3 Blog about the making of the radio series:

Both television and radio tackled the world's oceans in the first episode, although not necessarily the same oceans, and the radio programme is divided into a series of four chapters online:

Fascinating stuff!  Welcome back, Andy Kershaw!
