How was the Wagner Roehre? I'm not usually convinced by these arrangements personally.

Impressive, not the usual bleeding trunks.
It obviously gives the "standard" highlights between the opening of Rheingold upto the final scene of Götterdämmerung, but Waldweben, Einzug der Götter, Feuerzauber, Siegfrieds Rheinfahrt, Siegfrieds Tod and a couple of others are fully integrated in a symphonic form not dissimilar to e.g. Schönberg's Pelleas und Melisande. The scenes selected are not presented in their operatic sequence, but placed according to their motivic relationship/development, an obvious devise maximising the use of the Leitmotive

Nielsen:
3 Motetten opus 55 (1929)
Trying to imagine what on earth that might sound like and coming up blank...

A Vocal version of his austere and "heavy" late organ work Commotio for the first two motets,
the longest (3rd) is a rather cheerful piece.
The motets are recognizable as Nielsen for their harmonies, not for nielsen-like melodies IMO.

I think it's an interesting piece, but listening to the Eroica which was composed at the same time.....

Speaking of Martin vocal works, do you know Der Cornet? Highly recommended. There's a lovely recording with Lipovsek.
I found a copy a couple of years back as a result of your recommendation. Must revisit it.

Missed Golgotha last night.
Was planning to listen to it today.....(the premiere recording with Ansermet).

Der Cornet is a masterpiece, with Lipovsek not to be missed.
